Who Is Alan Kaye Of Shreveport?

Dr. Alan Kaye of Shreveport was Professor, Program Director, Director of Interventional Pain Medicine, and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at LSU Health in New Orleans for 15 years prior to his arrival in November 2019. He also started a brand-new anesthesia residency program at the university along with creating a fantastic Department of Anesthesiology. Before moving to New Orleans, he worked for six years as Chair, Professor, and Director of the Department of Anesthesiology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. The Greater New Orleans Surgical Center’s medical director, director of resident recruitment, and attending staff of Tulane University Medical Center’s Department of Anesthesiology are some of the positions he has held in the past. Dr. Kaye grew up in Tucson and Los Angeles after being born in New York.

A doctor of medicine and two bachelor’s degrees were earned by Dr. Kaye at the University of Arizona. A Rhodes Scholarship finalist, Who’s Who, and Phi Beta Kappa member, he was the class’s outstanding graduating senior. As part of the Joshua Millbank Scholars Program at the University of Utah, Dr. Kaye was awarded a Joshua Millbank Scholars Scholarship and the Emmanuel Bouis du Bois Scholarship. At the same time, she was studying medicine at Tucson’s University of Arizona School of Medicine. He also completed a further year of surgical research in the lab of Dr. Milos Chvapil, MD, PhD. In addition to being a tenured professor of pharmacology, toxicology, and neurosciences, Alan David Kaye, MD, PhD, is also the director of the Pain Fellowship Program at the University of Pittsburgh. He is also Vice chairman of research for the department of anesthesiology and vice chairman for the AOA. At LSU Health Shreveport, he serves as Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Chief Academic Officer, and Provost.

The LSU Wellbeing Sciences Clinical School, Graduate School, and Unified Wellbeing School are all busy with Dr. Kaye’s involvement.

The School Leader Panel of the Contact Advisory Group on Clinical Training is chaired by him, and the Advancement and Residency Council is managed by him. The former official participates in the Personnel Senate and Entrance Advisory Board. Among his positions were Chief of Exploration Qualification Track, member of Educational Plan Rejuvenation Panel, and board member of Educational Cost Waivers. Clinical Understudy Board of Trustees members include Louisiana State Clinical Society, Southern Association of Universities and Schools Commission on Schools, and Community School Agent for Translational Exploration.

As a resident at Tulane University Medical Center and president of the Louisiana State Residents Component of the American Society of Anesthesiology after finishing his anesthesia training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Alton Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, he gained experience in anesthesia.

A member of the FDA Advisory Board on Analgesics and Anesthetics from 2012 to 2019, he served as a member between 2012 and 2019. The journal Pain Physician and the journal Current Pain and Headache Reports are also edited by him. Two positions are currently held by him: he is an Associate National Board Examiner in Anesthesiology for the American Board of Anesthesiology and he is a member of the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians Board of Directors. Dr. Kaye is a recognized expert in the pharmacology of anesthetics and opioids, and she has given lectures on these topics at the local, regional, national, and worldwide levels.
